Meet the Grandparents
Hazel has had quite an exciting week so far. On Sunday evening Grampy and Grammy drove in from Kansas. Since their arrival Hazel has taken her first bath, had her first French dining experience, and caught her first movie.
Monday afternoon we headed to Williamsburg to go to the Blue Talon- a French Bistro, for lunch. We sat outside and Hazel pretty much slept the entire time. She did manage to have a bit of lunch herself while we dined, and did very well considering it was quite a long outing for her. It was warm, but pleasantly so, and we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio eating our lunches. After a long day out we headed home and decided that it was time for Hazel’s first bath. I ran the bath water and Jered got Hazel ready. It went quite well- Clayton videotaped the entire experience and Grammy snapped lots of pictures. We’ll post those soon! Hazel liked the warm water, but wasn’t too fond of getting her head wet. Once we pulled her out of the tub she screamed- most likely she was unhappy that the bath was over!
Yesterday we all headed over to the theatre for Hazel’s first movie. We saw Get Smart- and the parts that Jered and I saw were actually quite funny. We figured out that Surround Sound makes for a startling experience for a little baby, and that the movies will have to wait a bit longer. Hazel was great through the previews, and she even managed to nurse for a little while- but the sounds from the movie proved to be a bit much for her and she spent the second half of the show out in the lobby with Jered. When we got her home last night she was pretty upset- I think all the outings have worn her out and she was a bit overstimulated. Today we are staying in- and she seems to be recooperating, she slept very well last night- a stretch of over 4 hours, and another 3 hour stretch, which makes for two very well rested parents!
We’ll upload photos and videos from this week a bit later- for now, here is a shot of Hazel and Grampy at the French Bistro. She seems to like her Gramps quite a bit!
