15 months

September 18th, 2009

Hazel had her 15 month check up yesterday and she is growing very well! She weighed in at 22.4 pounds which is right at the 40th percentile and where she has been on the weight change growth curve for the past few appointments. Her head size (18.5 inches, 80th %) and length (31.5 inches, 80th %) continue to be above average- she’s a long and lean bobble head!

The worst part of this check up was the immunizations. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve never been fun, but these were the worst so far. Hazel went into the appointment well rested, with a full tummy and a smile on her face and then she had her shots… I have never seen her cry so hard or get so upset. Her hair was matted with sweat and she got beet red from screaming. By the time the doctor came in to do her check up Hazel was a mess- the doctor couldn’t even look in her ears or tap on Hazel’s belly without Hazel wailing. Poor kid! She has done so well at the pediatrician’s office until this visit- always smiling and happy, even after shots. I’m not sure what was different this time, but I think she’s more perceptive now and understands what being at the doctor’s is all about. Fortunately for us, Hazel has the sweetest disposition and as soon as the doctor was done touching her she was all smiles and waves. I know Jered and I both are glad she is done with her vaccinations until she is 4! (She had three this time and a finger prick to test her hemoglobin levels, which were great, by the way- 12.5). Hazel got an icecream sandwich and an extra trip to the park to help Jered and I feel better about Thursday!

Since stats are kind of dry I thought I’d post a few videos taken this week, the first was taken right after Hazel’s appointment, the rest were taken today- Enjoy!
